This is an amazing company:
Canada Pacific Railway Holiday Train has been raising food, money and awareness for food banks in communities across Canada and the U.S. since 1999. To date, we’ve helped raise $5.6 million and 2.45 million pounds of food with our Holiday Train program.
From the initial partnership with the National Food sharing program, a new idea was formed. That December, CP began running a freight train decorated with thousands of Christmas lights across Canada, to raise awareness of the issue of hunger prevalent in all communities. In 2001, CP launched a second Holiday Train in the United States.
The goal of the Holiday Train is to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness in the fight against hunger. At each event, the Holiday Train provides a box car stage, a line up of great musical talents and a corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community, in turn, is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays in the community.
Thanks to the effort of Canadian Pacific for putting this show together, it is one of the greatest shows on earth and the cause goes out to each community in which they stop. If you never got the chance to witness The Holiday train the schedule and all the stops are listed every year so go out and attend and support a worthy cause.
Also thanks to the U Tube user who film these events you get a chance to see things you might have missed.

Chasing the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train 2012
On November 30, 2012, we’ll chase CP’s Holiday Train on the former D&H, now the CP Canadian Subdivision, from Whitehall, NY to Crown Point, NY. Running slightly ahead of schedule, the train arrived at Whitehall with plenty of light remaining and got into Ticonderoga around dusk. Finally caught him in pure darkness as he cruised across Lake Road/Rte. 48 in Crown Point and then stopped on the curve alongside Rte. 9.

Holiday Train Show 2012
Caught the CPR holiday train (their term, not mine) in New York state on Nov 30, 2012. This is along the line that sees the Amtrak Adirondack service to Montreal, Canada. I saw it in 3 locations: Port Henry, NY, Westport, NY and Plattsburgh, NY. Very impressive crowd turnout along the way.
