Real Halloween Scare

fidockave213 - YouTube

Skimmed through a bunch of scary films but it dawned on me that the scariest film was the one we’re liven in.  I really didn’t feel spooked by this years films, becoming immune I guess, of our own horror of cutting off heads in war and one instance in Oklahoma, at work of all places.  Lopping off heads rates high on the fear factor scale, hard to imagine these times we live in.  Maybe all of it is trying to follow a time line of long ago during the height of imperialism and the ways of the world is refusing to turn that way anymore.  What was that date? ah yes Dec 21, 2012 the day of the beginning of the end, the Mayan readings.  The Mayan’s did not predict the end of the world, as they had it, humans were going to change.  A shift in the time line,  just like the fist evolution of man this keeps changing, we keep evolving and for the most part, into a better you.  But in the mean time while the ideology of man is showing up as idiot thinking.  “Today seems to me, if I were out on the battlefield right now involved in any conflict around the World,  I would tell my enemy of the grave news of an Army soo huge, that it dwarfs any species battle from the beginning of time and all human entanglements combined!  Hey Mate,  is that your skiff?   I need to get home.”

That enemy is Fukushima, (remove shima, Fuk u) born of no God, no thoughts at all.  That is the scariest thing I know,  and who else can I bring in here to ramp up the fear factor is fidockave213 going through old readings of Bible Prophecy tying our current events to this in a way that once again skimming through the scary trailers is nothing compared to headlines of Ebola.  With all of it coming down the line we’re leaning towards Toxic Fashion.

Happy Halloween Trouble- Tribute to the flicks

Happy Halloween: 2011

As time goes by I enjoy the creep shows more and more from radio shows like Arch Oboler, old black and whites to today’s high-tech horror-Fi. All I can say is thanks for the creature features and keep the flicks rolling.

Don’t know if many of you remember Arch Oboler but his theme for the radio show was Lights Out Every Body. I can remember siting in the dark listening to Drop Dead and the great spook stories he came up with. Do yourself a favor and sample some of his work and leave the lights out.

Happy Halloween Hell’s Gate

Have a Scary Halloween.

Hands Reaching for your neck touching your neck ahhhh!

Historian Nicholas Rogers, exploring the origins of Halloween, notes that while “some folklorists have detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, whose original spelling was Samuin (pronounced sow-an or sow-in)”. The name is derived from Old Irish and means roughly “summer’s end”.

A similar festival was held by the ancient Britons and is known as Calan Gaeaf (pronounced Kálan Gái av).Snap-Apple Night by Daniel Maclise showing a Halloween party in Blarney, Ireland, in 1832. The young children on the right bob for apples. A couple in the center play a variant, which involves retrieving an apple hanging from a string. The couples at left play divination games. The festival of Samhain celebrates the end of the “lighter half” of the year and beginning of the “darker half”, and is sometimes regarded as the “Celtic New Year”.

The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Other world became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. The family’s ancestors were honoured and invited home while harmful spirits were warded off. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm. In Scotland the spirits were impersonated by young men dressed in white with masked, veiled or blackened faces.

Samhain was also a time to take stock of food supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. Bonfires played a large part in the festivities. All other fires were doused and each home lit their hearth from the bonfire. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into its flames. Sometimes two bonfires would be built side-by-side, and people and their livestock would walk between them as a cleansing ritual.Another common practice was divination, which often involved the use of food and drink. The name ‘Halloween’ and many of its present-day traditions derive from the Old English era.
